HOLY ROYAL ARCH KNIGHT TEMPLAR PRIESTS

Membership in Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests is by invitation to either of the two Tabernacles in Kentucky: Golgotha, erected in 1949, or Centurion, erected in 1996. While a Templar may have experienced many titles conferred upon him, this new title of Knight Priest identifies him with the spiritual leadership of ancient Templary. Such association is fitting inasmuch as the ancient Templars were church sponsored and associated with the priesthood.

The threshold requirement is that one must be a Past Commander of a Commandery of Knights Templar. Beyond that, he must be a distinguished Mason who has demonstrated his dedication to Templary and his service to it. Thus, it is an Order based on demonstrated merit. Moreover, the peers who invite him into the Order must be confident he will exert even more time and effort to supporting Templary. Membership in this order is highly selective, for each of the two Tabernacles is limited to 33 Knights Priests.

HRAKTP is an international order under the control of the Grand College of America. Kentucky's two Tabernacles, Tabernacles being the name for assemblages of Knight Templar Priests, are two of seventy-five international Tabernacles. The presiding officer of a Tabernacle is the Very Eminent Preceptor.

This small invitational order, dedicated to the York Rite of Freemasonry, especially Templary, is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a York Rite Freemason.
